In true Salesforce fashion, Data Cloud has once again been renamed as part of the latest updates to the Agentforce suite being announced at the company’s flagship conference, Dreamforce, today.
Data Cloud – which is now known as ‘Data 360’ – is on its sixth iteration, formerly known as Customer 360 Audiences, Salesforce CDP, Marketing Cloud Customer Data Platform, Salesforce Genie, and Salesforce Data Cloud.
Why Has Data Cloud Been Renamed?
This rename forms part of the wider update to Agentforce – Salesforce’s proprietary artificial intelligence tool – that means Data 360 now falls under the Agentforce 360 umbrella.
Agenforce has been through its own fair share of iterations in just a year, and this latest 360 version consists of four main components, with Data 360 being one of them.
According to Salesforce, Data 360 is now more firmly integrated into Agentforce and acts as the data layer that gives agents context. A couple of new and updated features, including Tableau Semantics and Intelligent Context, can now help customers transform the way their agents work with unstructured data, bringing them one step closer to agentic workflows, even with data sets at different levels of cleanliness.
Tableau Semantics translates data into ‘business language’ and ensures consistent metrics across clouds through the Customer 360 Semantic Data Model (SDM). Utilizing Salesforce partners like Databricks, dbt Labs, and Snowflake, customers can now standardize semantics across platforms.

Intelligent Context enables agents to access unstructured content like PDFs or diagrams to guide users through real tasks, such as troubleshooting or analysis.
Digging Deeper: The Role Data 360 Plays
Last week, we reported that Salesforce had announced Agentforce Voice – something that the CRM giant had been teasing for a while. Agentforce Voice also sits under the Agentforce 360 umbrella, delivering “natural, human-like conversations that capture your brand’s unique tone and personality, and connect seamlessly to every part of your business”, according to Salesforce.
Data 360 plays a pivotal role in grounding Agentforce Voice agents with full auditability, allowing agents to achieve near-human conversational flow while executing actions such as updating CRM records, triggering workflows, or calling APIs.
Intelligent Context, which is powered by Data 360, automatically extracts, structures, and surfaces this information so your agents can deliver accurate, relevant, and business-specific answers. Document processing can be done in hours rather than days thanks to Salesforce’s low-code configuration, and with Data 360, users can also create a search index with AI and activate it everywhere for secure, contextual, enterprise-ready operations.
Final Thoughts
Being formally announced at the Dreamforce main keynote tomorrow, Data 360 – as part of Agentforce 360 – is available globally today, with Salesforce confirming that continued innovation is arriving in beta and pilot over the coming months.
