Salesforce and OpenAI Announce Major Partnership at Dreamforce 2025


Dreamforce 2025 has opened with a seismic announcement. Salesforce and OpenAI have officially joined forces to deliver a new generation of AI-powered experiences for businesses and consumers.

This new partnership marks a defining moment in the evolution of enterprise software, uniting Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 with OpenAI’s frontier models – including GPT-5 – in what both companies have described as a ā€œnew generation of employee and consumer experiences.ā€

What the Partnership Means

At the heart of this collaboration is a vision for seamless, conversational work – businesses will now be able to access Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 directly inside ChatGPT, enabling teams to query sales records, review customer conversations, or build Tableau dashboards using plain English.

Meanwhile, OpenAI’s frontier models will now also be available inside the Salesforce platform – powering agent creation, prompt building, and reasoning features within its core applications.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, describes the partnership as ā€œmaking the tools people use every day work better together, so work feels more natural and connected.ā€

Marc Benioff, Salesforce Chair and CEO, added to this, saying the collaboration ā€œunites the world’s leading frontier AI with the world’s number 1 AI CRMā€ to help companies become what Salesforce is coining as Agentic Enterprises – organizations built around intelligent agents that can act on trusted data.

The partnership will span multiple environments where professionals already work and collaborate, such as:

  • Agentforce 360 in ChatGPT: Salesforce CRM data and Tableau insights can now surface directly inside ChatGPT chats.
  • Agentforce Commerce with Instant Checkout: Powered by the Agentic Commerce Protocol, merchants can reach hundreds of millions of ChatGPT users while maintaining control of orders, payments, and customer data.
  • ChatGPT in Slack: Users can summarize threads, draft messages, or surface insights without ever needing to leave Slack.
  • Codex in Slack: Developers can now tag @codex in any thread to generate or debug code, turning Slack into an on-demand coding environment.
  • OpenAI in Agentforce 360: OpenAI’s reasoning, voice, and multimodal capabilities are now built into the platform, with GPT-5 selectable as a preferred model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and Prompt Builder.

For employees, this means that data-driven decisions can happen naturally in conversation.

A project manager, for example, could ask ChatGPT inside Slack to create a high-level summary of quarterly performance metrics and instantly compile the right data and context for an employee.

Beyond the workplace, Salesforce and OpenAI are also redefining digital commerce for consumers globally.Ā 

By integrating Agentforce Commerce with ChatGPT’s Instant Checkout, consumers can move from discovering a product to purchasing it without ever needing to leave the chat window. The system utilizes the aforementioned Agentic Commerce Protocol in conjunction with Stripe for tokenized payments that are compliant with privacy regulations.

For businesses, this offers the ability to meet customers in the conversational channels they already use while retaining full ownership of the customer relationship.

OpenAI frontier models are available today within Agentforce.
