Salesforce Acquires Cimulate in First Acquisition of 2026

Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cimulate, an AI company based within the agentic commerce and product discovery space.

This is part of a larger effort to increase the capabilities of Agentforce Commerce, Salesforce’s AI-powered online ecommerce offering.

What Is Cimulate?

Cimulate aims to deliver “AI-native shopping experiences, powered by context”, integrating artificial intelligence into search functionality, with use cases for fashion, furniture, technology, and more. Its notable customers include Tillys, West Marine, and Pacsun.

It also provides an “intent-aware context engine purpose-built for retail”, combining both real customer data and simulated customer experiences to allow businesses to better understand the intent behind modern shopping habits.

Cimulate’s functionality and capabilities give Agentforce Commerce an additional boost from context-aware AI. According to Salesforce, once integrated, it will help retailers provide a search experience that both feels more natural to the user and is more intuitive too.

A big part of this will be making customer interactions with retailer pages feel more “conversational”, likely through a mixture of personalized recommendations and direction for the customer when needed.

“The future of commerce is agentic, moving beyond simple transactions to intuitive, conversational discovery,” said Nitin Mangtani, SVP and GM, Commerce and Retail, at Salesforce.

“By integrating Cimulate’s technology into Agentforce Commerce, we’re helping retailers close the gap between shopper intent and action, delivering experiences that feel more natural, relevant, and effective.”

Summary

As Salesforce’s first acquisition announced in 2026, Cimulate likely sets the tone for what the rest of the year will look like in terms of the CRM giant’s M&A strategy. Focus remains heavy on Agentforce.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
